Directional drilling technology is an advanced technology developed from the field of oil drilling. It is a construction process for laying public pipelines such as water supply, gas, natural gas, sewage, telecommunications cables, etc. without trenching on the surface and minimal damage to the formation structure by using technical means such as rock drilling and directional drilling measurement and control. Directional drilling rigs have a wide range of applications. They can use bottom hole motors or rigid drill pipes to drive the drill bit to rotate and drill into holes. They can also be used in hard rock or pebble beds. Measure while drilling (MWD) is used to monitor the drilling trajectory. If the laying depth is shallow, walking navigator can also be used. The depth, length and pipe diameter of the laid pipeline are large.

Drilling pilot hole is to use directional / pilot drilling equipment to start directional / pilot drilling at the entrance. During the drilling process, monitoring and control means are used to extend the drill hole according to the design trajectory. If the pipeline to be installed on the drilling rig is large and the reaming and pullback operations cannot be completed at the same time, the reaming shall be carried out step by step, and the diameter of each reaming shall be determined according to the equipment capacity, formation conditions and site conditions. Generally, the hole can be enlarged by pulling back. The diameter of the final enlarged hole shall be at least 25% larger than the diameter of the pipeline

Pipeline pullback means that the directional drilling rig connects the pipeline to the drill pipe at the outlet through the pullback head, the reaming bit and the transfer case. The drilling equipment rotates while pulling back, and at the same time, the flushing fluid is transmitted to the reaming bit through the drill pipe. The reaming pullback process is continuous. There shall be no long non operation pause in the middle.
